Coming This Summer!
Christmas in July! VBS 2019
One of Santa’s elves is on vacation (in July) and so is angel Gabriel! They get to talking over a cool drink and realize that during the Christmas season we get so busy that we have a hard time learning new Bible stories and traditions. They decide that since they are on vacation, they will learn a new way of preparing for Christmas now while they have time to think about it. That way when the busy Christmas season arrives again, we know how to incorporate the Bible stories into our daily lives.
This VBS focuses on the popular tradition of the Jesse Tree which traces the ancestry of Jesus through the Old and New Testaments. It celebrates the women and men who, like John the Baptist, prepared the way for the coming of the Lord. It is the story of salvation. It is God’s Story. Our VBS Bible stories tell us of many different people in many different situations where God made promises and people trusted in those promises.
The Jesse Tree is named for Jesse, the father of King David. Its scriptural base is Isaiah 11:1 “A root shall sprout from the stump of Jesse and a branch shall grow out of its roots.”
Our VBS week is filled with fun games, music, food, crafts, and of course great Bible stories!! Plus, this year we end the week with something special – a petting zoo!!
